The Majority Vs the Minority

The Majority  Vs the Minority.

                                          by Thota Srinivas

We are a part of a society that we have built .Therefore it’s true that the society reflects us. The qualities we grow up with are those that emerge in the society. And viewed in this way we cannot fail to accept the fact that we are fostering and nurturing those outcomes and effects, both good and bad, shocking and appalling, amazing and astonishing,  disappointing and demoralizing, frustrating and provoking, that are cropping up in the society every now and then.

One thing is certain – we tend to disassociate our actions with the actions happening in the society. And shockingly this attitude of ours is letting the ailments in the society persist to an extent making it incurable.  Any shocking incident in the society is initiated by an individual in the society but not by the society as a whole.

If we take ourselves as a countable and considerable part of the society, we tend to be careful with our actions and reactions- else we consider ourselves as too minute to influence the society thereby taking our actions for granted. And as a matter of fact, it is not the individual but the individual’s actions which become noticeable and substantial in the society first and the person himself next.

It is a stereotyped notion that the society is stronger and more powerful than the individual. But it is the individual who has the power to direct the society over the right path or the wrong path.

Society surrenders  itself to the most influential- be it good or bad. And , pathetically, this weakness of the society is misused by the wrongdoers ,miscreants, lawbreakers and offenders.

The vast part of the society consists of those who do or believe or carry forward something because it is an accepted thing by the majority or because they don’t see another option or don’t  dare to take another alternative since it is a RISKY thing to do so. This part is occupied by the Destitutes, the unfortunate Poor, the helpless Middle-class , the Self-centred, the Apathetic, the Foolish, the unfairly Meek and the unduly Submissive.

The little part of the society consists of those who strongly believe that the society can be moulded just the way they want it to be. This part is occupied by the Crooks, the unjustly Powerful , the formidable politicians , the hypocrites , the authority-holders, and the overnight Wealthy who adopt immoral, undue and corrupt means to attract or oppress or misdirect the defenceless Majority.

Fortunately, this part also has space for philanthropists, the Truthful, the Honest, the Selfless, the fair, the Hardworking and the Righteous.

The only difference between these two minority sections is that the Former’s divisive methods and strategies are unthreatened and unimpeded as they themselves are formidable enough to restrict , subjugate and repress the weak Majority and so they are usually successful in contaminating the society with their oppressive and crooked ways.

Whereas the Latter’s sincere endeavour to cleanse the society is thwarted and obstructed surprisingly and shamefully, not by the unethical Minority but by the infected vulnerable Majority !

This is a bitter fact but this is why GOOD THINGS get foiled at the very inception stage not by those who would be pulled down because of THESE but by those who would be emancipated from shackles which hinder their development because of THESE. It would be ridiculously surprising to know why the gullible Majority behaves like this. It is because they are so habituated to be in harmony with the oppressors that they tend to get scared of not the radicals of negativity but by the crusaders of positivity.

They are so content and complacent with their under privileged life that they dread any change or reformation that disturbs their pathetic unprincipled routines. And so they never hesitate demoralizing the one who sermonizes them, discouraging those who encourage them, demotivating those who want to inspire them. They would rather be ready to submit themselves to the Crooked and the Wicked than be flexible enough to be influenced by the Good and the Meek.

Now we know who nurtures the bad.

Now we know how the invaders were able to loot and rule our motherland.

Now we know why bad is stronger than good.

Now we know why the crusaders are handful and the invaders indomitable.

Now we know why noble intentions and motives are misrepresented and misinterpreted.

Now we should know why preaching is easier than practice.
