Humane humans- poem

                               Humane humans -Poem

                                                                   -by Thota Srinivas

We dread pain and pang and ache and ordeals

We wail and moan and weep and grieve

But we make creatures endure these

Perhaps what flows in our veins

Doesn't flow in theirs

Perhaps what is terribly painful to us

Is pleasantly gratifying to them

We lecture about kindness and humanity

We don't possess even an ounce of these

But we flaunt as if we are made of them

We show what we don't possess

We possess that we don't toil for

Perhaps our hypocrisy isn't

as vicious as our acts

We abhor humans killing humans

But that's what we are good at

Not in all cases blood oozes

Not in all cases screams are heard

Not in all cases flesh is ripped apart

But the killing gets done in many cases

We work and work and work and fret

We think and think and think and wreck

We gather and gather and gather and scatter

We speak and speak and speak and falter

We hoard and hoard and hoard and lose

We pray and pray and pray and booze

We eat and eat and eat and rot

We bond and bond and bond to plot
